Dear St. James Chamber Members,

As we step into a new year filled with opportunities and growth, I want to extend my warmest welcome to all our members—both new and returning. Your dedication and involvement are what make the St. James Chamber of Commerce such a strong and vibrant part of our community.

We began this year with a wonderful Winter Gala, a night filled with celebration, camaraderie, and appreciation for those who make a difference in St. James. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Community Service and Dedication Award to Bill and Ruth Garthe. Bill and Ruth have long been pillars of our community—cornerstones of both the Chamber and St. James itself. Their unwavering commitment to service has left a lasting impact on all of us.

Sadly, on February 23, 2025, we lost Bill Garthe. Bill was more than a dedicated leader—he was a true friend to so many, always thinking of others and bringing warmth to everyone he met. His motto, “Keep Smiling,” was a reflection of his generous spirit and positive outlook on life. The entire community mourns his passing, as he was truly loved by all.

As we honor Bill’s legacy, we invite you to join us for one of his most cherished events—the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15th. This parade was near and dear to both Bill and Ruth, and we hope to see the community come together in celebration, just as he would have wanted.

Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber and our shared mission to make St. James the best it can be. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, connection, and community—and let’s always remember to Keep Smiling.
